As a presenter you are expected to
1. Convey your message at the shortest possible time
2. Convince your client
3. Make your client take action on your proposal
Convey your message at the shortest possible time:
As an executive, business expects you to be precise and to the point. Your target audience does not have time, so keep it simple and to the point. One of the biggest misconceptions among presenters is ‘the more you speak the more impact you create’. This statement is wrong – in reality ‘the more you engage your audience, the more impact you create’. Hence keep it simple and precise and focus more on the means to engage your audience
Convince your client
Most presenters are spending most of their energies and time during presentation to just inform the audience. As a presenter, you should spend most of your time to instill conviction among your clients. One of the best techniques to instill conviction, is by asking questions. This will engage your audience and will shift them from ‘listening’ to ‘thinking’ mode. Now that you have made them thinking, you should make your audience act.
Make your client take action on your proposal
If you don’t make your client act on your proposal, then all your efforts is just a waste of time. Make your client act on your proposal by clearly providing them options to choose at the end of the presentation. The options you provide should be compelling and make the client act.
In addition to the expectations from the business, there are set-backs which will influence the outcome of your presentation. For instance, during presentation your clients get to the sleeping mode every 3-4 minutes and are less willing to listen to you. What worse, your clients will remember only 10% of what you said after 3 days. These are issues which require deeper understanding of presentation concept, to start with engaging an expert will save your time, effort and will reap results in a short time frame.
